Getting Started with Astervis: Step-by-Step Guide

In this guide, we'll walk you through all the stages of setting up Astervis — from creating an account to your first working dashboard. The entire process takes about 10 minutes.

What You'll Need

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Access to your PBX (Asterisk, FreePBX, or compatible system)
  • Email for registration
  • 10 minutes of free time

Step 1: Account Registration

  1. Go to astervis.io
  2. Click "Start Free Trial"
  3. Fill out the registration form:
    • First and last name
    • Work email
    • Password (minimum 8 characters)
  4. Confirm your email by clicking the link in the email

Tip: Use your work email — important system notifications will be sent there.

Step 2: Agent Installation

Astervis collects data through a lightweight agent installed on your PBX server.

For Linux/FreeBSD:

# Download and run the installer curl -fsSL https://get.astervis.io | bash

What the agent does:

  • Collects call data in real-time
  • Tracks operator statuses
  • Sends metrics to Astervis cloud
  • Does not record call content (unless you enable this option)

Step 3: Connecting to PBX

After installing the agent, you need to specify AMI (Asterisk Manager Interface) connection parameters:

  1. In the Astervis web interface, go to Settings → Connection
  2. Enter:
    • PBX server address
    • AMI port (default 5038)
    • AMI username
    • AMI password
  3. Click "Test Connection"

Important: Make sure the AMI user has event reading permissions (read = all).

Step 4: Adding Operators

Now let's add operators to see their statistics:

  1. Go to Settings → Operators
  2. Click "Add Operator"
  3. Specify:
    • Operator name
    • Extension number
    • Email (optional)
  4. Repeat for all operators

Tip: Astervis can automatically detect active extensions. Use the "Import from PBX" button.

Adding Widgets

  1. Click "Edit Dashboard"
  2. Select widgets from the library:
    • Calls by hour chart
    • Top operators
    • Queue statuses
    • SLA metrics
  3. Drag widgets to the desired location
  4. Click "Save"

Step 6: Verification

Make a test call and ensure that:

  • The call appears in the active list
